LEARN TO
COPE
There may not be a solution to Autism, but there are strategies to cope and manage your life so you can show up to love and care for your loved one with Autism. Getting real-life solutions to managing your life and the unique needs of those you care for will help you enjoy life and improve things for everyone in your family.
FEEL
SUPPORTED
You don’t have to manage alone or feel lost. When you have a loved one with Autism, sometimes your closest friends, family, or colleagues just don’t understand and are not able to show up to support you how you are. You can feel supported by a community of people who are going through what you are in different ways.
COMMUNITY THAT UNDERSTANDS
When you live a life and have routines that can include routines that are different than most people’s, it can be hard to find people who understand you. The community of Kawartha Lakes Autism Support understands that every person with Autism is different, and every loved one and caregiver is doing their best to adjust and love them. We know these differences and have built a community that supports each other in working through them.
KAWARTHA LAKES AUTISM SUPPORT WAS FOUNDED BY A GROUP OF CAREGIVERS AND PARENTS OF THOSE WITH AUTISM.
Frustrated with the lack of guidance and government support, they created a community to support each other. We have become a charitable organization that spreads awareness, partners with other organizations on programs and initiatives, and primarily provides a forum for a direct peer support group.
HAVING A CHILD OR ANY LOVED ONE BE DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM OFTEN COMES AFTER A FRUSTRATING PERIOD OF TIME AND NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO.
Adjusting to and navigating a life different from the life experiences you expected can be scary. You may feel lost, alone, or just plain worn out. We are here to invite you to join a community that supports each other on this journey.
